Youth Tour

The Iowa Youth Leadership Academy will be held as a three-part webinar series in October and is open to any high school student in the state. This new program is geared for rural Iowa students who have a passion for public service, leadership or government. 

Joining about 1,800 students from across the country, 37 Iowa students made the annual pilgrimage to Washington, D.C.

The inaugural Youth Tour to Washington, D.C., in 1958 impacted students far longer than they ever thought possible.

During the last 60 years, more 50,000 students have participated in the Youth Tour. In 1958, 17 Iowa electric co-ops sent 29 young people on a weeklong study tour of Washington, D.C.
