- Unplug electronic equipment before the storm arrives. But avoid contact with electrical equipment and cords during storms.
- Don’t touch water and plumbing fixtures, including sinks, bathtubs, toilets or faucets.
Can you talk on the telephone during an electrical storm? Use a corded telephone only in an emergency. However, it’s okay to use cordless or cellular phones inside. Is it okay to leave a dog outside during a lightning storm? Doghouses are not lightning-safe, and chained animals easily can become victims of lightning strikes. Bring your pets inside to protect them.
